Settling In

Every child will be allocated a Key Person when they start.  The Key Person will work closely with their children and parents / carers to ensure that the children settle well, are happy and develop to their full potential whilst with us.  Please see our Settling In  Policy for more information.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and sessions are planned in accordance with this.  These include creative activities, small world / construction play, sand / water / malleable activities, role play and story time.  We have two large outdoor areas with a variety of equipment / opportunities as well as use of the beautiful field to the front of our pre-school.  We also have "carpet time" every session to encourage children's listening and social skills.  Every child will build a digital Learning Journey on "Tapestry" to record their achievements and development whilst with us.

Health and Safety

The children's safety and security at all times is of paramount importance to us.  If you would like to see copies of our policies and procedure, please visit our Policies page.

What to bring with you

We ask parents / carers to dress children in clothes that they can get messy.  Please ensure that they bring a warm / waterproof coat and wellies for the cold or wet weather, or apply sun cream and provide a sun hat for the warm weather.  We also request a change of clothes in case of accidents, and ask for spare nappies, wet wipes etc., to be provided if required.  Please label all you child's belongings clearly, including their lunch box.

Snacks

Children are asked to bring in a piece of fruit or healthy snack together with a water bottle.  Drinking water is available throughout the session.  Please note that we are a nut-free setting, so products containing nuts should not be sent in at any time.

Collection of children

If children are being collected by someone other than their parent or carer, we ask for details to be put in writing.  This information will be put in our diary and on no account will a child be allowed home with this permission.

Sickness

We request that children are kept at home if they are unwell to try and prevent the spread of illness.  If they have vomited or have an upset stomach, they should be kept at home for 48 hours.  We request that we are notified if children are going to be absent, either by text, phone call or email.  Please see our Sick Child Policy for more information on incubation periods etc.  Our mobile telephone number is 0751 367036.

Waiting list

If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please complete the registration form below and either email it to poppets2@sky.com or return it by hand for the attention of Laura Phillips at Poppets Pre-School, Dinton Field.  Your child will then be placed on the waiting list.  We will contact you when a place becomes available.  Once your child's place has been agreed we will give you all the relevant forms which will need to be completed and returned before starting.  We ask for a deposit of £150 to secure the place.  This will be deducted from your first invoice or refunded if you are claiming funding.  We also require a copy of your child's birth certificate to keep on file.

Cancellation of place

If you wish to cancel your child's place at Poppets or reduce their days, we ask that you let us know in writing.  We require a minimum of one months paid notice.  If your child has a funded place and will be moving to a funded place at another nursery, you will be required to pay for the sessions during the notice period in lieu of funding as we will no longer be able to claim it.
