Settling In

Every child will be allocated a Key Person when they start. The Key Person will work closely with their children and parents / carers to ensure that the children settle well are happy and develop to their full potential whilst with us. Please see our Settling In policy for more information.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and sessions are planned in accordance with this. These include creative activities, small world / construction play, sand / water / malleable activities, role play and story time. We have an enclosed outdoor area / gardens with a variety of equipment / opportunities as well as use of the beautiful field to the front of our pre-school. We also have "carpet time" every session to encourage children's listening and social skills. Every child will build a Learning Journey to record their achievements and development whilst with us.

Health and Safety

The safety and security of the children at all times is paramount to us. If you would like to see copies of our policies and procedure, please click the link at the bottom of the page.

What to Bring With You

We ask parents / carers to dress children in clothes that they can get messy. Please ensure that they bring a warm / waterproof coat and wellies for the cold or wet weather or apply sun cream and a sun hat for the warm weather. We also request a change of clothes in case of accidents and ask for spare nappies, wet wipes etc., to be provided if required. Please label all your childs belongings clearly, especially their lunch boxes.

Snack Cafe

Children are asked to bring in a piece of fruit every session for our snack cafe. This will be cut up and shared with all the children and each child will also have a plain biscuit and drink of water. Drinking water is available throughout the session. Please note we are are a nut free setting so no products containing nuts should be sent in please.

Collection of Children

If children are being collected by someone other than the parent or carer, we ask for the details to be put in writing. This information will be put in our diary and on no account will children be allowed home with someone else without it.

Sickness

We request that children are kept at home if they are unwell to try and prevent the spread of illness. If they have vomited or have an upset stomach, they should be kept at home for 48 hours. We request that we are notified if children will not be attending on a day they are booked in, particularly if they have a contagious illness e.g. chicken pox. Please see our Sick Child policy for more information on incubation periods etc. Please phone or text the pre-school if you have to report a sickness incident. Funding

We offer Early Education Funding (EEF) places, entitling children to 15 hours free childcare per week or 30 hours if they are eligible. Some children are eligible for 15 hours funding from the term after their second birthday, dependent on family income. All children are entitled to 15 hours EEF the term after their third birthday and some children will be eligible for 30 hours EEF if both parents are working.

There are no additional charges for children claiming EEF, you will only be charged for any extra hours yours child attends over the 15/30 funded hours.

When your child is eligible for funding we will give you a parent declaration form to complete. Once we have your completed form we will send the information to the council, who then pay us directly.
